Jimmy Carter Work Projects
The Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP) is an annual, internationally recognized "blitz build." During the week-long project, former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn, as well as thousands of volunteers from around the world, build new homes for deserving families.
In 2005, JCWP took place June 17-24 in Detroit and Benton Harbor, Michigan, where 60 vinyl siding industry members and thousands of other volunteers built more than 50 attractive, vinyl-sided homes. VSI Certified Installers and Certified Trainers instructed volunteers on proper vinyl siding installation techniques.
VSI member companies donated nearly $175,000 worth of vinyl siding for the 2005 JCWP; enough siding that, if laid end-to-end, would reach the top of the highest Detroit Renaissance Center building more than 125 times.
VSI members' total donation to Habitat is worth more than $2.5 million in vinyl siding and accessories — enough siding to cover more than 1,000 homes. VSI has been proudly installing vinyl siding on JCWP builds for more than a decade:
