Certified Installer Program Endorsements

Interview with Manalco Contracting:

Manalco Contracting of Pickering, Ontario Canada has been in business for over thirty five years, servicing the new construction and renovation business, with over thirty siding crews servicing their customers’ siding, trim, and railing and needs in the Greater Toronto and Ottawa markets.

President/Owner Larry Jamieson has always believed in investing in his employees’ and preferred sub-contractors’ trade skills, which in turn has paid big dividends both to the company and the employee.

Why did Manalco Contracting have all their siding installers become certified?

  • To improve the skill and knowledge of the installer
  • To bring ALL installers to a level playing field of skill. We can now have  confidence that any installer on any installation job will do it right.
  • VSI Certified Installers are a huge marketing /selling tool to builders who care about quality, not just best price practices.
  • We have lower service issues, which equals savings to the siding contractor and builder
  • We have invested in our installers to be better than the competition which creates a positive reputation in our industry.
  • More skilled installers means less waste of materials, thereby resulting in lowers cost to the contractor.

Are your builder customers aware of that your siding installers are VSI-certified and have they received value added?

  • In a word………YES! In fact our installers are preferred by builders vs. those who are not VSI-certified.
  • With better installation they receive less service calls.

Three years ago all of your siding installers became VSI certified and to maintain their certification status they will have to become recertified. Do you plan on recertifying all of the installers again?

  • Absolutely…….in order to maintain our high level of installation skills. We have seen the value of having VSI Certified Installers.
  • Any new installers are also required to become certified

What value has the VSI siding installer program been to the individual installer?

  • A higher skill level means more efficient and quicker installations. The installers can run more work then, which means a higher income for the crew.
  • Since there are fewer callbacks for the installers there are fewer charge backs for service work.
