Choose independently certified products and installers

Vinyl siding, including insulated vinyl siding, is the only exterior cladding with a product certification program administered by an independent, accredited quality control agency that ensures products and colors meet or exceed industry standards; and a certified installer program with validation by an independent, third-party administrator to ensure that installers demonstrate knowledge of industry-accepted application techniques.

VSI Product Certification Program
More than 98 percent of vinyl siding manufactured in the United States each year – covering more than 800 products and more than 400 colors – is certified through the VSI Product Certification Program. Through twice-yearly, unannounced inspections of manufacturers and rigorous testing, the quality control agency ensures that certified products:

  • Withstand the impacts of recommended installation procedures
  • Lie straight on a flat wall and does not buckle under normal conditions
  • Weather the effects of sunshine, rain and heavy winds of at least 110 mph
  • Meet manufacturers’ advertised specifications for length, width, thickness and gloss
  • Are available in a wide variety of attractive colors, with an independent process to certify colors for color retention.

Certified Program

VSI Certified Installer Program
The VSI Certified Installer Program recognizes a combination of work experience, successful completion of a training course, and demonstration of knowledge of vinyl siding installation techniques based on industry industry-accepted standards. Currently, more than 2,700 installers are certified by an independent, third-party administrator.

Official List of Certified Products and Colors

Vinyl and other polymeric siding, including insulated siding, are the only exterior claddings with product certification administered by an independent, accredited quality control agency that ensures products meet or exceed industry standards for performance. Hundreds of colors are also certified to meet or exceed ASTM standards for color retention, so you can be sure they will resist major color changes in a variety of climates. Currently more than 800 products and more than 400 colors are certified to meet or exceed international standards for quality and color retention.

Certified Vinyl Siding: Quality and Color You Can Count On

Learn more about the specific performance requirements in ASTM D3679 that vinyl siding must meet or exceed in order to be certified. Once a product is certified, it can achieve additional certification for color retention by meeting or exceeding ASTM D6864 (solid colors) or ASTM D7251 (multi-hued) and as verified by an independent, accredited quality and control agency, which reviews two-year, outdoor weathering data on each product color.

Polypropylene Siding: Certified for Performance

Like vinyl siding, polypropylene is another polymeric siding with its own unique quality standard and performance requirements. It’s certified with independent, third-party verification to meet or exceed ASTM D7254.

Certified Insulated Siding: Quality and Comfort You Can Count On

In addition to the performance requirements of certified vinyl siding, insulated siding must meet or exceed a minimum thermal resistance value, per ASTM D7793. Homes clad with certified insulated siding are assured that continuous insulation will help prevent heat from escaping in winter and entering in summer through the exterior walls framing studs. Once a product is certified, it can achieve addition certification for color retention.
