Blogging from the SideLines
Oct-27 That’s a wrap!
A few weeks ago, For Your Home host Vicki Payne introduced us tothe tremendous team at Purple Heart Homes (their Veterans Home Ownership Program matches disabled warriors with donated properties). When we learned that a vet and his wife needed some assistance sprucing up the exterior of their new home, we said: How can VSI help?
With a generous contribution by PlyGem Siding Group, and Vicki’s talent to inspire, the couple chose to replace the Masonite siding which had fallen into disrepair.
“Seeing the house and knowing the family’s circumstances, I recommended certified insulated siding because it’s impervious to conditions that drive a lot of unplanned renovations — it won’t need painting or caulking, and because it’s a polymer-based product, it cannot absorb water,” Payne said. “Peace of mind is something every warrior — in fact, every homeowner — deserves.”
But it wasn’t all about the practical choice of materials; the couple had lots of fun choosing color schemes and architectural trim details.
The home’s transformation will be featured on an upcoming episode of For Your Home.
Thinking about vinyl siding? You’re in good company. According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau, more single family homes built in 2013 used vinyl siding than any other material — nearly twice as many as fiber cement — and more new single family homes sold in 2013 had vinyl siding as the principal exterior wall material.
That’s the 20th straight year vinyl siding has been the top choice in exterior cladding.
Take a look at today’s vinyl siding in our photo gallery to see how beautiful, versatile, and prolific polymer-based exterior building products are — from siding and soffit, to trim and door surrounds, even architectural accents like pediments and molding. You, too, will appreciate why vinyl siding is the best choice in exterior cladding.
